Gunfight broke out between militants and the government forces in Verinag forests of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday morning.
 
A joint team of the police, the army’s 02 Para and Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Verinag forests, reported a local news agency, Global News Service.
 
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off the gunfight.
 
An unnamed senior police officer also told GNS that the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants started in the morning
 
In another happening in kashmir a 37-year-old army personnel was killed along Line of Control in Naushera sector of Rajouri in Jammu division on Monday.

Unnamed official sources told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS), “Pakistan troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Krishna Ghati and Naushera sectors of Poonch and forward sectors in Rajouri. The firing was retaliated befittingly.”
 
In the meanwhile, the officials said, the gunfire exchange at Kalal area of Naushera sector resulted in injuries to one Havildar of 3/5 GR attached with 24 MLI.
 
The injured army personnel, 37-year-old Deepak Karki, they said, was evacuated to a medical facility. However, he succumbed to the injuries on the way.
