Congress Party led Punjab state Government formed a high-level committee to probe the alleged security lapses during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. 

The panel comprises Justice (Retd.) Mehtab Singh Gill & Anurag Verma, Principal secretary of home affairs and justice

The two-member high level committee will submit its report within three days. 

In a major security lapse, PM Modi’s convoy was stranded on a flyover due to a blockade by protesters in Ferozepur on Jan 5. 

PM Modi returned from poll-bound Punjab without attending any event, including a rally. 

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has denied any security lapse or political motive behind it.

Congress party state leaders alleged that due to low turn out of the event Modi has cut short his visit and made a u turn 

However BJP leaders hit out at Congress after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Punjab visit was cut short as he was stranded on a flyover for 20 minutes due to a blockade by protesters. 

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said Punjab Congress leaders must apologise to the nation. 

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said the incident was ‘a matter of shame’. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said it was a conspiracy hatched by the Congress party.
