A day after Assembly results gave a jolt to ruling BJP, Parliament started on a stormy note as parties forced an adjournment till noon over various issues in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

In the Lower House, Shiv Sena, TDP and AIADMK led vociferous protests over various issues.

Sena had submitted a notice for adjournment motion demanding immediate construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya while TDP was demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.

As protests continued, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till 12 PM.

In Rajya Sabha, as soon as the papers were laid on the table, DMK MPs were in the Well demanding protection of Cauvery delta farmers. ADMK MPs also rushed to the Well soon after.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu appealed for calm in the House saying, “people have overwhelmingly gave a verdict. It shows their confidence in democracy. We should respect that and allow the House to run.”

He said he had received notices from several Cong MPs but was disallowed. However, he said he will allow them to raise the issues in a different form.

However, MPs did not relent forcing Naidu to adjourn the House till 12 noon.
