Father hacks daughter, son-in-law for inter-caste marriage : Caste hate

Closely on the heels of the brutal honour killing in Miryalaguda, where the father hired paid killers and killed his son in law again a father today  attacked and injured his daughter and son-in-law in a broad daylight on Erragadda Road in Hyderabad.

While the condition of the girl is critical, the boy is recovering. Madhavi (22) and B Sandeep (24) had got married against the wishes of her family.

Manohara Chary, a resident of Borabanda, had invited his daughter Madhavi and son-in-law Sandeep saying that he has got new clothes for them.

Instead of taking clothes out of the bag, he took out a machete and attacked the unsuspecting couple, who were sitting on a scooter. He first attacked Sandeep, who ran away, leaving Madhavi to the mercy of her father.

Standing in the middle of the busy road, Chary attacked his daughter mercilessly. As she fell down he slit her throat, all the while threatening a security guard who was coming to help Madhavi.

As Chary was preparing to attack Madhavi again, a good Samaritan kicked him from behind indicating the sense of anger among the bystanders. He fled the scene but later surrendered before the police.

Madhavi’s condition is stated to be critical with grievous injuries in her neck, head and abdomen. She has been shifted to a corporate hospital where a team of doctors are trying to save her. Sandeep is recovering at a private hospital.

Madhavi, who belongs to a backward class (BC) community, married Sandeep, a Scheduled Caste youth. The SR Nagar police said the duo were in love since 2013 when Madhavi was in class X and Sandeep in intermediate.

Threatened by her parents with dire consequences, Madhavi approached the SR police seeking protection.

The police counselled the parents and advised them against resorting to any kind of harassment.

Madhavi’s father gave her a word and has been visiting her in-laws’ place. “Madhavi believed that her father had accepted the marriage. She convinced my brother to meet her dad,” said Sandeep’s cousin brother Madhu.

Sandeep fled the scene leaving his wife at the gruesome murder attack also  drawing angry remarks against  him in social media
