Supreme Court in a rarest swiftness directs Dwarka court to grant interim relief to Congress leader Pawan Khera, agrees to clubbing of FIRs against Pawan Khera.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera was given interim bail hours after his dramatic arrest from the Delhi airport today, after being taken off a flight to Chhattisgarh capital Raipur over an alleged insult to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“There has to be some level of discourse, we are protecting you,” Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said, hearing the Congress petition against cases registered in Uttar Pradesh and Assam.

Nearly 50 Congress leaders launched a rare protest on the tarmac, refusing to let the flight leave, after Mr Khera was removed from the flight.

Mr Khera was arrested over his controversial comments at a press conference recently.

He had flubbed PM Modi’s name while demanding a joint parliamentary probe into the Adani-Hindenburg row.

“If Narasimha Rao could form a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), if Atal Bihari Vajpayee could form a JPC, then what problem does Narendra Gautam Das…sorry Damodardas…Modi have?” he said, appearing to confirm the middle name with a colleague.

In the morning Pawan Khera was deplaned from a flight to Raipur, where he was going to attend the party’s plenary session. Several party leaders got off the plane after Khera was deboarded and staged a dharna on the tarmac.

“It’s a long battle, I’m ready to fight,” says Pawan Khera after Assam Police arrests him.

“Are PM & HM unaware of this incident? India’s condition worsening day by day. Democracy is in danger, laws have gone for a toss. They (BJP) blame Indira Gandhi for emergency but what they’re doing is worse than emergency,” asks Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot after Pawan Khera’s arrest.

“Petty, BJP Scared” on Pawan Khera’s arrest Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has said
