Ace shooter Vartika Singh moved to a court in Sultanpur accusing Union minister Smriti Irani and two others for demanding Rs 25 Lakhs to make her a member of the central women’s commission.
Earlier an FIR was filed against her by one of the accused Vijay Gupta for allegedly trying to spoil his image. The MP-MLA court in Sultanpur has fixed the hearing date January 2 when it will decide if the case falls under the court’s jurisdiction, Singh’s lawyer said.
Singh alleged that the two ‘aides’ of Union Minister Smriti Irani issued her a fake letter appointing her as a member of central women’s commission.
The letter possibly hinted at the National Commission for Women. Singh accused that aides, Rajnish Singh and Vijay Gupta asked her for Rs 1 crore and then brought down the amount to Rs 25 lakh.
The shooter has also accused the men of talking to her in an obscene way. She accused Smriti Irani along with the two men as they are people working as Irani’s “aides”. Vijay Gupta reportedly works as Smriti Irani’s personal secretary.
Last month on November 23, Vijay Gupta had filed an FIR against Vartika Singh in Amethi district for wrongly accusing him and attempting to spoil his image. Although Vartika Singh says that the FIR was an aftermath of her threatening the two to expose “corruption”.
Vartika Singh is a gold medalist in international rifle shooting. She courted controversy in 2019 when she reportedly used her own blood to write a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah asking him to let her execute the convicts of the Nirbhaya rape case.
