It was a dramatic day in the DMK headquarters on Tuesday with news of sitting MLA Ku Ka Selvam landing in Delhi and speculations over his switch to the BJP.
Ku Ka Selvam went to Delhi and was accompanied by BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao and state president L Murugan to meet J P Nadda.
DMK legislator Ku Ka Selvam called on BJP chief JP Nadda in New Delhi but denied speculations he was joining the saffron party.
Ku Ka Selvam after ADMK Party led by Jayalalitha suffered her worst defeat at the hand of DMK switched to DMK during 1997 .
He contested in the prestigious Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai in 2016 with the support of MK Stalin. He defeated the then Powerful AIADMK Minister B Valarmathi who is close confident of Jayalalaitha who been convicted by Supreme Court for wealth misappropriate beyond her known source of income
MLA Ku Ka Selvam met BJP president JP Nadda around 5 pm. But after his meeting, the DMK MLA said he was not joining the BJP. Selvam said, “I am not joining BJP. I visited Railways Minister Piyush Goyal to request him to install two lifts at the Nungambakkam station in my constituency and also asked BJP President JP Nadda to develop temple town Rameswaram on par with Ayodhya.”
MLA Ku Ka Selvam went on to shower praise on PM Modi for his governance and his efforts in building the Ram temple at Ayodhya.

He also made three important demands to DMK chief MK Stalin – conduct internal election within the party for postings, severe ties with the Congress and finally condemn the Karuppar Kootam (an issue related to misusing of the Kandha Sasti Kavasam). It is alleged sitting DMK MLA is reportedly disappointed about not being given the post of the Chennai West District Secretary, which fell vacant after the demise of J Anbazhagan.
Anbalagan had died of Covid-19 recently and his position was allotted to N Chitrarasu who is said to be a close aide of Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK youth wing leader.

District secretaries’ posts are generally given post after an internal election within the party, but in this case, it was allotted without any election that caused animosity
Though Selvam denied joining the BJP, sources say this decision might have been to ensure that his MLA seat is protected.
Meanwhile, on being questioned about going to Delhi without the party high command permission, Selvam said he was ready to face any disciplinary action.
