Gold box office day 1 collection is estimated to be about Rs 25 crore as Akshay Kumar’s film enjoyed a solid Independence Day opening at most centres.
Akshay Kumar is the king of Independence Day weekend and he has proved it once again with Gold box office collection. Akshay Kumar has delivered six straight hits in the last three years and trade sources are confident his latest film is headed that way too. Gold’s box office collection on day one was estimated to be over Rs 25 crore, which gave it a head start over John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate.
The film’s collection was bolstered by the fact that it was a holiday on the account of Independence Day and the film’s team celebrates India’s sporing victory immediately after it became a free country. Directed by Reema Kagti and starring Mouni Roy and Amit Sadh in an ensemble cast, Gold has got largely positive reviews.
In the movie, Akshay plays manager Tapan Das, who led India to its first Olympic gold as an independent nation in a fictional 1948.
According to trade sources, advance bookings for Gold are rising steadily, especially in Tier I cities.
The Akshay Kumar film was not impacted by the clash with John Abraham’s film as it attracted largely family audiences. Trade alo put a lot of emphasis on Akshay’s pull and given his track record it is not hard to fathom why. Here’s how Akshay Kumar’s last six films did at the box office reports film sources
