The 49-day Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has ended with lakhs of people taking a holy dip in the Sangam, confluence of River Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati and to mark the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.

Speaking to media Additional Chief Secretary of UP Government Avanish Awasthi said,”UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will participate in the closing ceremony of the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Tuesday and will felicitate the officers who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience”
“He will also be honouring the saints belonging to the Akahda Parishad for supporting the state government. The artists will be performing various cultural events to mark the ceremony. The CM will also be addressing a press conference at the media centre,” he added.
According to the Kumbh Mela administration, around 22 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Sangam since 15th January. It includes large number of foreigners belonging to different countries.
A devotee from Maharashtra , Mangesh Marathe said,”The is my first visit to the Kumbh Mela and I am happy with the arrangements here. Toilets have also been set up at many places for the public. It’s wonderful to see a large number of people taking holy dip at the Sangam”
More than 40,000 LED lights were installed this time and more than 20,000 cops were deployed for safety and management of the crowd.
4 police lines, 40 police stations, 58 police posts, 40 fire stations and more than a thousand CCTV cameras were installed for the security of the premises.
