So far 6 workers were killed and 17 others injured and 11 of them critically when a boiler in a thermal power unit (TPS II) of NLC India Ltd exploded on Wednesday, officials said
The victims were identified as Selamarasan, Arun Kumar, Padmanabhan, Ramanathan, Venkatesa Perumal and Nagaraj. NLCIL said all of them were contract workers.
This is second blast in recent months, and it is feared that the death toll could go up. This was the second boiler explosion in two months at the same plant. The mishap occurred at the fifth unit of the thermal power station-II (210 MW x 7) when workers were in the process of resuming operations on Wednesday morning. According to reports, the deceased were contractual workers

Of the 17 injured, 11, who had sustained over 50 % burns been considered as critical were referred to Chennai while the remaining were admitted to the NLCIL General Hospital in the township.
The NLC India’s integrated mining-cum-power plant is located in Neyveli in Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu.
