Till now nine people were reported dead Tuesday following a blast at the Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh, located some 32 kilometres from Raipur.
The blast was sudden and people working there had no time to escape. The Bhilai plant, operated by SAIL, produces a range of products, including rails. District collector visited hospital where injured were admitted
It is also reported 14 people were undergoing treatment, Reuters reported quoting the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), which operates the plant.
The incident happened near a coke oven where a gas pipeline was being repaired.
In June 2018 , Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a modernised and expanded Bhilai Steel Plant to the nation.
