Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttar Pradesh has received a jolt as its chief Mahendra Nath Pandey’s daughter-in-law Amruta Pandey, has decided to join decade old Congress party.
Amruta Pandey, who is Mahendra Nath Pandey’s brother’s daughter-in-law, will join the Congress on Wednesday (March 20) in presence of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Chunar area of Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district.
When Amruta was asked about her decision to join the Congress, she said that she has an old connection with the Gandhi family and the party.
“Now that Priyanka Gandhi has officially entered the politics, I, too, have decided to join the Congress party. The coming phase is not of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but of the Congress.
It is not even clear if the prime minister will contest the Lok Sabha election or not,” she said. Amruta Pandey further said that the future of politics belongs to Congress and that’s why “I have decided to join the Congress.”
Slamming the BJP, Amruta said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has not only looted the Brahmans but everyone.
On being asked if she would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on a Congress ticket, Amruta said that it is up to the party to decide. “For now, my aim is to join the party and work with Priyanka Gandhi,” she said.
