Karnataka  Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Ballari mining baron and former BJP minister G Janardhan Reddy, after 20 hours of interrogation. 

Police also arrested Reddy’s close aide Ali Khan on charges of criminal conspiracy in a multi-crore cheating case.

Speaking soon after the arrest on Sunday afternoon, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar said: “After detailed interrogation, evidence gathering, and statements by witnesses; we found that Reddy is involved in the case and his arrest is necessary. We will further probe the case to know the depth of it and all the victims’ money will be recovered”.

He added, that even Reddy’s aide Ali Khan, who was also being questioned, was arrested. The duo will be produced before a magistrate, to seek police custody.

It is learnt External affairs  Minister Sushama Swaraj  blue eyed boy Janaradhan   Reddy denied all allegations against him.

The City Civil and Sessions court refused anticipatory bail to Reddy and Khan on Friday.

The court stated that there should be a detailed hearing. Now Reddy’s advocates are preparing to apply for regular bail.

Reddy, who was absconding last week, appeared before CCB officers around 4 pm on Saturday.

Reddy has been accused of receiving 57 kg gold worth Rs 18 crore, from Syed Fareed Ahmed, proprietor of Ambident Marketing Pvt Ltd.

The company is accused of duping over 15,000 investors to the tune of around Rs. 600 crore.
