Benazir Arfan, the State Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Morcha got suspended from the BJP party with immediate effect for organizing a prayer meeting for the victims of the recent Rohingya massacre.
Benazir Arfan had apparently joined BJP in 2012 and contested election in 2016 as an MLA. She had been one of the prominent faces of Assam BJP during the triple talaq issue as she was one of the first victims of triple talaq in the region, she said.
United Minority People’s Forum an NGO from Guwahati had planned to organise the prayer meeting on September 16 and Benazir Arfan had reportedly shared the information across various social networking sites as one of the organizers.
Infuriated by this move the BJP Headquarters had asked assam unit to thrown her out of BJP.
State BJP General Secretary Dilip Saikia signed the letter and shown her doors.
Arfan was reportedly one of the first victims of triple talaq in the state. “BJP had made me a mascot of triple talaq at one point of time but now they suspended me for talking about Rohingya Muslims.” she further said.
Upset with BJP., Benazir said Rosanara Begum, chief convenor of minority forum of BJP also sat in the prayer meeting but was not suspended.
Also she accused State bjp head and said “Ranjit Das is corrupt but no proofs were reported in the media and that same person has the guts to remove me from the party.” said Benazir Arfan.
She also confessed that she regrets joining the party and had infact joined it in the hope of the much talked about ‘poriborton’ change in the system to be supposedly brought about by BJP in the state.
“I regret my affiliation to BJP” she added in a disappointing tone.
