In her submission to the ACB on Saturday, Roopa is said to have expressed doubts about Sasikala and Ilavarasi leaving prison. The video grab, said to have been submitted by former DIG (prisons) D Roopa to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), shows both Sasikala and Ilavarasi walking near an entrance, carrying handbags and in plainclothes.
A male police officer is seen standing near the wall, which is painted blue. The same prison officials however, denied the allegations outright and said the video grab showed Sasikala and Ilavarasi walking from their barracks towards the visitors room to meet their advocates.
The first point of entrance to the prison is its main door with a Judas gate. After this comes the A gate which leads to officials' rooms and B-gate. The B-gate leads to open spaces surrounded by various barracks.
"That day, around three advocates were waiting for Sasikala and Ilavarasi. Prison police communicated with each other and when the lobby was clear, police directed Sasikala to walk towards the room. They both had court papers and related documents stuffed in the plastic hand bags they were carrying," prison sources confirmed.
"We are open to any investigation. The footage is of Sasikala and Ilavarasi walking out of B-gate en route the visitors' room. The B-gate is the entry/exit point for the women's barracks," a senior prison official said.
Different Prison officials confirmed the video grab showed Sasikala and Ilavarasi walking to meet their advocates waiting for them in the visitors' room.
There is one-and-a-half furlong distance between Sasikala's barracks and the visitors' room. Since Sasikala is a high-profile convict, tight security is deployed in and around the area.
A committee headed by former IAS officer Vinay Kumar is probing into the allegations and the truth will come out very soon. If the outcome of Investigation gives clean chit to Sasikala then this may bring fresh troubles to DIG Roopa., Political pundits predicts.
