The gang rape of the minor girl took a dramatic turn after the Allahabad High Court rapped Uttar Pradesh government for delaying the arrest of the accused. The HC ordered the state government to immediately arrest Sengar.

Then the BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused in the Unnao gangrape case, has been sent to a seven-day CBI remand.

Sengar, who was arrested on Friday was produced before the Lucknow court on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the officials from the premier agency took the victim and her family to Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital in Lucknow for medical tests after allegations of assault on them. They were later sent back to Unnao.

Earlier today, Sengar, while talking to media persons defiantly said that he has faith in the judiciary. Incidentally, the arrest of the four-time MLA took place on the same day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence on Kathua and Unnao gangrapes that triggered national outrage.

It was only following the speech by the prime minister, the victim has expressed hope of swiftly getting justice.

Earlier today, the victim, who along with her family reached Lucknow, said that she wants Sengar to be hanged.

Speaking to media before leaving for Lucknow, the Unnao rape case survivor said, "My uncles used to say that daddu (Kuldeep Singh Sengar) is very good. But when I met him, he did wrong with me. He is a devil, he should be hanged."

Sengar, who has been evading arrest, appeared before the Lucknow SSP on Wednesday night. While speculation was rife that the MLA had gone to surrender before the police, moments later he admitted that he voluntarily visited the cops.

Soon after his visit to the police station, Sengar told India Today that the charges against him were fabricated to tarnish his image. He added that he was open to any kind of investigation.

The gang rape case came to light after the victim tried to immolate herself outside the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence last week over alleged police inaction in the case. The victim had also alleged that her 50-year-old father died after he was beaten up by the goons of the MLA.
